Approximately 93% is High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), which includes the highest percentage of recycled plastic milk & water jugs. The remaining 7% is color concentrate, a foaming agent & UV stabilizer.

The furniture is made to withstand the extremes in any climate. Whether you live in the freezing cold of Minnesota, the dry desert of Arizona, or the saltwater climate of the Florida Keys, our furniture is made to last a lifetime. We do recommend covering your fire table to keep debris out of the fire bowl.

Water will remove most soil. You may use any non-abrasive cleaner, including bleach if you feel it’s necessary to sanitize. Pressure washing, under 1400 psi is recommended for white pieces – please note, the wand needs to be at least 16″ away from your furniture at all times. HDPE material is non-porous and won’t absorb spills that may stain. Please do not use eraser sponges.

In coastal areas with high salt content, it is highly recommended that the furniture and hardware be rinsed with fresh water on a regular basis to prevent salt buildup and prolong the life of your furniture.

Cleaning Tips for By the Yard Furniture

All BTY cushions are manufactured with Sunbrella® Fabrics. These are easy to clean and resistant to water and stains. Keep your cushions looking their best by brushing away dirt and debris. HDPE is a naturally flexible polymer and molds to your body for exceptional comfort; yet, it’s warranted not to crack, break, splinter or peel because it won’t breakdown or become brittle from the sun or cold. It is actually a wood substitute, making it as dense as wood and approximately 20% heavier than cedar – without the maintenance.

All of the screws and fasteners used in manufacturing our products are a high grade of stainless steel with a Xylon coating (plasticized paint) baked on in a color to complement the furniture. We also countersink any hardware on surfaces that might come into contact with your skin to minimize scratching or snagging any clothing. The straps used on our gliders have an encased bearing system to ensure moisture and dust won’t interfere with the smooth glide. The straps are aluminum with a colored, impervious powder coat applied.

Yes, we are proud to say that all of our furniture is Minnesota Made and Manufactured in the USA, as well as our proprietary plastic lumber used to manufacture our full product line. Made in the U.S.A.

By the Yard 35 years to never crack, break, rot, or peel. With over 35 years of actual field testing and 50 years of accelerated laboratory testing, it’s still going strong. Just like any product it will at some point reach its life span, but we haven’t seen it yet. Some assembly is required on orders shipped outside of your local store delivery area (call our office to determine your delivery area). Smaller accessory pieces such as foot stools and end tables are shipped fully assembled as well as folding chairs. Our full product line may be assembled with a #2 Phillips head screwdriver and a 7/16″ wrench. All assembly instructions include photos along with detailed directions to assist you.

No, the material is non-porous and doesn’t absorb moisture, so stain or paint will not penetrate the surface. You may add colored cushions, pillows or planters to change the look.

Most items ship via UPS, FedEx, or SpeeDee and will take approximately 3 to 6 working days from the time of shipment to delivery. It isn’t necessary to be home when your order arrives. The carrier will drop your packages without a signature to an area on your property that’s easily accessible for the driver. Larger orders may be shipped on a pallet via Common Carrier and may require an appointment for delivery.

Unlike most other plastics, the material used to fabricate the furniture is considered colorfast. The color runs throughout each piece and has a UV-Stabilizer incorporated into the material to minimize the occurrence of discoloration. Allowing you to add to your collection year after year worry free.

On our Swivel chair, the seat rotates 360 degrees. On our newly upgraded Swivel-Flex chair, the seat will rotate 360° and gently bounce or “flex” back and forth.

All of our pieces are manufactured to industry standard dimensions and will accommodate virtually any cushion available at retail stores. There are 2 sizes of umbrellas sold in the U.S.-Commercial and Residential. The 122” table is fit for the 2” commercial umbrella, the rest are the standard 1-5/8″ holes for the residential umbrella that measures 1-1/2” in diameter. We have the tooling to cut holes in our table tops for either size. (Commercial umbrellas are normally only available through Bar Supply Companies and not generally sold in retail stores.)
